Why this coaching program?

My name is Yolanda Ramos, LCSW aka Clinical Comadre and I’ve gathered years of education and experience in supporting my therapy clients through grief and loss to carefully curate this program to meet you where you are on your grief journey.

After losing my grandmother and serving hundreds of therapy clients through grief and loss and hosting pláticas on the same subject, I have learned that Latine women often experience the pressure to “be strong” or continue to support their family while putting themselves on the back burner.

This coaching program will provide you with a community of other women who are also struggling to move forward in life as they grieve.

Why Work with Yolanda?

Like you, I am also learning to live without a loved one. I felt alone and wondered when the pain would “go away.” I thought it would be something I eventually would get over. I understand the difficulties of attempting to grieve within a Latine family. It can be difficult to be vulnerable with family members. I remember wondering why we weren’t talking about the grief even though we were all going through it. We were too scared to bring it up.

While there may be other grief coaches and programs, not all may share your Latine background and have the expertise of a Licensed therapist. I blended my professional background as a mental health clinician with my personal background of a grieving granddaughter in a Mexican/Latine family to curate a supportive program for you and your grief.

What Past Participants of the Fall 2023 Cohort Are Saying:

How the program helped them navigate their biggest challenges of grief and loss:

  • “Finding ways to self-soothe during the low moments, or when breathe work is not enough.”

  • “It gave me tools to use.”

What they gained:

  • “A better understanding of the various ways grief can show in us, and coping techniques to get through the challenging moments.”

  • “I feel more at ease.”

  • “That grief is not something that goes away. That it is ok to learn how to live with it.”

What they enjoyed about the program:

  • “I really enjoyed the week diving into how our culture influences/teaches us how to associate & feel with grief.”

  • “It makes your grief feel normal.”

Why this program now?

I know what it’s like to experience so much of what was mentioned above and I want to let you know it doesn’t have to be this difficult. When I lost my grandmother in early 2020, I felt alone and like I couldn’t turn to my support system. It was hard to ask for help and at the time I didn’t even know what I needed or what would have been helpful. I also felt like people around me were tired of hearing me talk about my grief and about my abuelita. As time went on and people around me checked in with me less, I felt alone and like there was something wrong with me for still grieving. You are not the only mujer who feels this way and you don’t have to push through this alone. Your grief should be witnessed.

Healing Juntas invites Latine women who are grieving the loss a loved one and are feeling stuck in their grief. You deserve to be supported as you continue to process your grief, and you don’t have to experience this level of pain any longer.

Within the Latine community, it can be difficult to ask for help as it is culturally viewed as a sign of weakness. If we don’t face our feelings or process the grief though, we will continue to hold on to it and carry it with us. Historically the Latine community has grieved longer than what is considered “acceptable,” due to a lack of resources in our community. This unresolved grief negatively impacts our emotional, mental, and physical health. If we aren’t given the opportunity to tend to ourselves and process our grief, we will continue to suffer in silence.
